'4' SEASONS MUSIC FESTIVAL
'4' GREAT REASONS TO VISIT DARVEL IN 2010
The Darvel Music Company has just announced details of the '4' Seasons Music Festival taking place at Darvel Town Hall during 2010.
The company which is a not for profit organisation also runs the bi-annual Darvel Music Festival and its main aims are to promote 'live' music in the town and in the long term to develop musical initiatives for young people.
The '4' Seasons concerts are scheduled for spring (26th and 27th March), summer (7th and 8th May), autumn (10th and 11th September) and winter (5th and 6th November).
The first show on 26th March will feature the ubiquitous James Grant (ex-Love and Money) joined by a great band of musicians including (Donald Shaw, Cappercaillie and Ewan Vernal, Deacon Blue). Support on the night will come from 2009 festival favourite JJ Gilmour (ex-Silencers) and rising star Maeve O' Boyle who has received plaudits from Eddi Reader, Ricky Ross and Callum Malcolm (Blue Nile) amongst many others. The second concert of the spring event will be a jazz/soul/blues extravaganza and feature the fantastic Hamilton Loomis Band and the sultry jazz vibe of Niki King. Anyone who was privileged enough to see and hear Hamilton Loomis at the Town Hall in May will know that receiving a standing ovation as first act on supporting Ruby Turner and Hamish Stuart is no mean feat. Niki King was voted 'Perrier' Jazz vocalist of the year and received acclaim for her 'live' interpretation of Billie Holliday classics.
Moving on to May 2010 and another weekend of great music with the legendary Blues Band fronted by Paul Jones kicking things off in style on the 7th of May, ably supported by Edinburgh based Main Street Blues. Then on the 8th of May a real treat for lovers of NEW music with up and coming Glasgow indie-rockers Kassidy joined by Radio2 favourites Vandeville Falls and Yorick Cormack + Band (of Endrick Brothers fame).
The autumn and winter concerts will be announced in 2010 and will take place subject to funding and company/business sponsorship being in place. So please contact info@darvelmusicfestival.org if you can provide sponsorship of any kind be it financial or in-kind (for example accommodation, taxis, restaurant meals etc.).
DMC Director and Chairperson Sheila McKenna said "We hope that music fans will once again come to the Darvel Town Hall to enjoy our '4' Seasons Festival of great concerts and receive a warm welcome from our dedicated team of volunteers. We would also like to take the opportunity of thanking East Ayrshire Council, Gibson Wight Engineering and Loudoun Medical Company for their grant assistance and financial sponsorship".
Tickets are on sale from 1st December 2009 at Walker and Connell, Darvel, Valhalla Music in Kilmarnock and via PAYPAL at the festival website - www.darvelmusicfestival.org
