James Dickerson and Iain McKinnon

FREE GIG AT BLACK BULL IN 3PM ON 8 MAY

James and Iain started writing songs together almost 10 years ago and since then have amassed an impressive back catalogue and performed in venues across the UK.

Originally gigging under the name 'Grassroots', James and Iain produced 2 demos; an LP called 'Wishful Thinking' in 2002 and an EP in 2004. They achieved radio airplay on Virgin Radio Glasgow, Nevis Radio Scotland and Radio Sauvagine in France where they picked up a small following.

In 2005 the pair started a 5 piece band called 'Wild Oscar' which James would continue under a different guise; 'The Deletes'. James led the band into the finals of two national song writing competitions performing in established venues such as the Carling Academy in Glasgow and in London.

Iain moved to London for a spell in 2006 and became a regular at acoustic venues around the city culminating in a solo show at the famous Troubadour club which saw the like of Hendrix and Dylan perform in its 60's heyday.

Today, the pair takes a more relaxed approach to their music. They are still gigging, collaborating on new songs as well as digging out older ones and putting their musical stamp on the odd cover. James is due to release a new CD later this year and a new 'Grassroots' album is in discussion.
