Darvel Music Company Presents the Darvel Music Festival

DARVEL LEADS THE WAY!

It has just been confirmed that the Darvel Music Company have been successful in their bid for co-funding from Ayrshire LEADER.

The grant of £38,500 will enable the Darvel Music Company to pay for marketing, advertising and technical costs associated with the Darvel '4' Seasons Music Festival from June until November 2010 and the 10th Anniversary Festival which will take place across each weekend in May 2011. Festival Director Sheila McKenna said "we are delighted that the Local Action Group (LAG) of Ayrshire LEADER have agreed to award us this grant which will allow us to stage sixteen concerts over the next year and boost the profile of the event whilst helping to regenerate the local area through an influx of visitors from all over Scotland, the UK and beyond We are planning some great shows for 2011 but of course still have four great concerts this year featuring Bruce Guthro, Larry Carlton, Martin Taylor, Dougie MacLean and the Peatbog Faeries"!

Speaking on behalf of the LAG, Sarah Baird LEADER Programme Coordinator said "the LAG is delighted to fund the Darvel '4' Seasons Music Festival project which will strengthen and build on the great success of past events run by Darvel Music Company. This is exactly the type of community based project LEADER can support demonstrating real local involvement and a wider community benefit throughout Rural Ayrshire".

In the past few months East Ayrshire Council has also announced their continued support for the Darvel Music Company which operates the Darvel Music Festival by committing £25,000 of key funding towards this prestigious regional event in 2010 and 2011.

Councillor Douglas Reid, Leader of the Council said "the Festival has now gained much deserved national recognition and this has been achieved through sheer hard work and determination by a small group of dedicated community volunteers, led by Sheila and Neil McKenna. It is testimony to the Darvel Music Company that many top international and national artistes choose to perform at the Festival, often as exclusive Scottish shows. The event receives cross-party support and it was unanimously agreed that East Ayrshire Council would provide annual support to ensure that local residents and visitors from far and wide will continue to enjoy the 'Darvel' Experience' for year's to come".
